Conceptual Design
GYM·PG

DESERT MATERIALITY · FILTERED LIGHT · CIVIC SCALE
A civic institution rooted in landscape, material honesty and structural precision.
GYM·PG proposes a postgraduate facility that responds to the arid conditions of Guaymas through layered materiality, controlled light and a composition built on contrast.

Project Approach
Architecture understood as geological response, tectonic precision and environmental discipline.
The project organizes its program through a clear material hierarchy: weathering steel anchors the building to the desert ground, exposed concrete mediates the public threshold, and a perforated metal screen filters light into the upper academic volume.
Each layer serves a climatic and spatial purpose. The composition is not decorative — it is a direct response to the intensity of the Sonoran landscape and the demands of an institution built to endure.
Spatial Analysis
Public circulation structured around a central axis that connects landscape, entry and vertical program.
The cantilevered upper volume creates shaded transitional zones that mediate between exterior heat and interior comfort.
A perforated facade system diffuses solar radiation while preserving visual connection to the desert horizon.
